Jacqueline Csuss to receive the Austrian Arts Prize for the translation of literature for young people

Jacqueline Csuss’ oeuvre as a translator of English literature for young people has earned her a reputation as a most prolific translator, and most recently one of the Austrian Arts Prizes 2010.

The Austrian Arts Prizes are awarded by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture to artists of outstanding merit in different categories. The prize for literature for young people is awarded either to a writer, an illustrator or a translator. Jacqueline Csuss is only the third translator to receive this prestigious prize (renamed last year) since its creation in 1996.

The prize is endowed with €12,000. The awarding ceremony will be held in the Vienna Hofburg on 25 January, 2011. Federal President Heinz Fischer will be present, and the German philosopher Julian Nida-Rümelin will deliver the official speech.
