Two residencies for literary translators available in Rarogne, Switzerland  (Deadline: 31 May 2016)

The Cultural Department of the Canton of Valais in Switzerland has two residencies available in Rarogne for professional literary translators from Switzerland or elsewhere. During the residency the translator will work on a literary text written by an author from Valais or the Alpine arc, or a text that is related thematically to the Alps.

Tenth anniversary of Translation House Looren marked with literature and music

Since 2005, Translation House Looren in Switzerland has been hosting literary translators, organising workshops in literary translation, and providing readings for the general public.

To mark its 10th anniversary, actors Claudia Carigiet and Jürg Kienberger have created a multilingual literary and musical program entitled Teufelsbrücken (‘Devil’s Bridges’). The programme will have its premiere on 5 September in Looren, and will then tour Switzerland until 17 December 2015.

This year the Collège européen des traducteurs littéraires de Seneffe (CTLS (http://www NULL.ctls NULL.be/)) in Belgium celebrates its twentieth anniversary of hosting literary translators from all over the world with a special programme, consisting of a round table discussion and an award ceremony.

The round table discussion – ‘George Simenon aux mains de ses traducteurs’ [‘George Simenon in the hands of his translators’] – will see twelve Simenon translators of different languages discuss aspects of the translation of Simenon’s work.

Translators’ house in Tarazona (Spain) re-opens its doors and offers grants to 12 translators

The translators’ house in Tarazona (Aragón, Spain) recently reopened its doors. Twelve residency grants have been announced for translators who wish to work on their translation project in Tarazona.

The Banff International Literary Translation Centre in Canada offers residency to literary translators from Canada, Mexico, and the United States translating from any language, as well as to international translators working on literature from the Americas. The primary focus of the residency is to afford working and professional literary translators a period of uninterrupted work on a current project.

Translators’ House in Rome will be opened to all literary translators

The Translators’ House – Casa delle Traduzioni – in Rome is a specialized research centre and library dedicated to translation. It offers non-profit accommodation to selected translators. Starting from March 2014 residencies in Casa delle Traduzioni will no longer be restricted to translators who translate from Italian into another language. Translators who translate into Italian, and translators working with other language pairs are also welcome to apply.

The translators’ house is a specialized research centre and library dedicated to translation. It offers non-profit accommodation to selected foreign translators who translate Italian authors into their mother tongue.

Translators’ house in Rome joins RECIT

The Casa delle Traduzioni (http://www NULL.ceatl NULL.eu/?p=2136) in Rome has become an official member of RECIT (http://www NULL.re-cit NULL.eu/) (Réseau Européen des Centres Internationaux de Traducteurs littéraires), the international network of literary translators’ centres open to literary translators from all over the world. They offer residencies and rooms to work, provide the opportunity to exchange information and experiences and to do research.

Inauguration of the Casa delle Traduzioni in Rome

23 June 2011 saw the inauguration in Rome of the Casa delle Traduzioni (‘House of Translations’). Run by the institution ‘Biblioteche di Roma’, the House will have a specialist library and a permanent space devoted to cultural activities related to the world of translation.

In a few months the House will also open a small residence (2-3 places) designed to receive professional translators preferably translating from Italian into other languages.
