Foreign translators and writers are welcome at the Writers’ House Guest Rooms at Drottninggatan 88C in Stockholm to work, visit publishers or libraries, or simply spend a few days in the capital going to theatres and museums. Many Swedish writers and translators stay here as well, but guests from abroad have priority.

The Writers’ House provides four single rooms in the very centre of Stockholm (a double room can be arranged upon special request). The rooms are furnished with a standard bed, a small desk and an office chair. Guests share a bathroom with shower and WC, as well a separate WC. The Cultural Department of the Canton of Valais in Switzerland has two residencies available in Rarogne for professional literary translators from Switzerland or elsewhere. During the residency the translator will work on a literary text written by an author from Valais or the Alpine arc, or a text that is related thematically to the Alps. The original text or translation has to be written in one of Switzerland’s four national languages. Since 2005, Translation House Looren in Switzerland has been hosting literary translators, organising workshops in literary translation, and providing readings for the general public.
