Second call for applications: grants for the international promotion of Catalan literature

The Institut Ramon Llull (http://www NULL.llull NULL.cat/catala/home/index NULL.cfm) has opened the second call for grants to promote Catalan literature internationally in the following fields:

Translation of literature and philosophy
These grants are available to anyone who is planning to translate works of Catalan literature (fiction, poetry, theatre and graphic novels) and philosophy into other languages during the year the application process takes place or the following year. Applicants must have acquired the rights to publish the work in print format and distribute it commercially. Applications should be sent by 31 October 2016 at the latest.

Promotion of literature
Grants are available for activities involving the promotion and dissemination of Catalan literature and philosophy internationally (works of non-fiction and humanities originally written in Catalan) during the year the application process takes place, including

    • international events promoting Catalan literature and philosophy, such as literary festivals, book launches and planned promotional campaigns for new translations (excluding academic activities);
    • monographs on Catalan literature and philosophy published in international cultural journals;
    • translation of excerpts and production of booklets containing Catalan literature and philosophy to be distributed internationally.

Applications should be sent by 19 September 2016 at the latest.

Publication of children’s literature
These grants are available to anyone who is planning to publish or co-publish children’s or young people’s picture books as long as the illustrator of such works is resident in Catalonia. Applications should be sent by 19 September 2016 at the latest.
