Most of Anne Frank’s readers come to her diary through a translation. How much has this affected our experience of this iconic piece of writing? How much is the voice we feel we know so well really the creation of her translators? Prize-winning Dutch-English translators Sam Garrett and Shaun Whiteside will produce independent versions of a passage of Anne’s diary (without consulting one another!), and they will present, compare, discuss and defend their rival versions in front of a Jewish Book Week audience. Chair: Daniel Hahn. For more information and reservations, please visit the website of the Jewish Book Week (http://www NULL.jewishbookweek NULL.com/past-events/813).

Date: 4 March, 11:00 am. Venue: Royal National Hotel, London.
