aller↔retour ǀ festival of translation and literature
27 Feb, 2021

On March 6th 2021, the aller↔retour festival of translation and literature will be broadcast live from the Nouveau Monde cultural centre in Fribourg. The festival, dedicated to translation as an activity straddling artistic expression and practical craft, can be visited virtually via live streams and zoom workshops.

The programme includes events on various forms of translation: how do you translate the excitement in a thriller? What rules apply to translations for the stage? How do you translate literary texts into images? What are the risks and advantages of machine translation? What challenges need to be mastered when translating emotionally dense texts? Thanks to its interactive elements, the proposed programme is varied and dynamic. Planned events include the live translation of an unpublished text with active suggestions from the public. Participation is free.

To get in the mood for the festival, three additional cultural highlights organised in advance are available at www.aller-retour.ch (http://www NULL.aller-retour NULL.ch/).

aller↔retour is organised by the ch Foundation (https://chstiftung NULL.ch/fr/), Pro Helvetia (https://prohelvetia NULL.ch/en/), Translation House Looren (https://www NULL.looren NULL.net/en/residencies/translation-house-looren) and Lausanne Translation Centre (https://www NULL.unil NULL.ch/ctl/fr/home NULL.html).
