This year’s Swedish Literary Translators’ prize Årets översättning 2011 (‘Translation of the Year 2011’) was awarded to Gun-Britt Sundström for her translation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. The award consists of 7,500 euros and a diploma. Three translations had been shortlisted, the other two being Marianne Tufvesson’s Ru (‘Ru’) by Kim Thúy and Ulla Ekblad-Forsgren’s Scardanelli (‘Scardanelli’) by Friederike Mayröcker. The ceremony took place on 10 May 2012 at Studio Lederman in Stockholm, with all three of the shortlisted translators present and nearly 100 people in the audience.
