On International Translation Day, the Icelandic association of translators and interpreters (http://www NULL.thot NULL.is/) baked Chinese-style ‘fortune-cookies’, filled them with quotations from various translations – all kinds, classics, pulp-fiction, children’s books, poetry etc. – and served them to the guests at their translation symposium. The quotations were necessarily short (3 lines max), but the cakes were a huge success. The guests tried to guess the name of the translator and the author, and the title of the book. Afterwards, the answers were posted on the association’s website.
