For the 19th consecutive year, the Turin International Book Fair will organise a number of activities of special interest to translators, under the title AutoreInvisibile.
From Thursday 9 May to Sunday 12 May 2019, translators, publishers and writers will participate in seminars and discussions on current issues in literary translation. The main event is “The writer and his double” with Fernando Savater (Spain), Jhumpa Lahiri (USA), Alan Pauls (Argentina) and Juan Villoro (Mexico) in dialogue with their Italian translators.
Other topics for discussion will include translation as a model of hospitality in contemporary societies and the future of the profession, particularly with regard to independent publishing, new translations of the classics (including “Diary Of Anne Frank” and “One Hundred Years of Solitude”), and translation editing.
