A new translation award, the Joseph Brodsky/Stephen Spender Prize, has been established, celebrating the long friendship between the poets Joseph Brodsky and Stephen Spender, as well as the rich tradition of Russian poetry. Entrants from all nationalities can send in their English translation of a Russian poem.

Entries for the 2011 competition have to be sent in before 31 August 2011 and will be judged by Sasha Dugdale, Catriona Kelly and Paul Muldoon. There will be prizes for the three best translations: £1,500 (first), £1,000 (second) and £500 (third).
