The European Translators Residence Programme of the German Goethe Institut, in cooperation with the Alfred Töpfer Foundation and the Saxonian Culture Foundation, is offering a working grant in Germany for  professional translators of fiction or lyric poetry living in foreign countries.

To qualify, applicants are required to have completed and published two translations of major volumes, and to have a signed publisher’s contract for the translation which the applicant wishes to work on during her/his stay.

Translation projects in the fields of poetry and fiction will be preferred.

Apartments provided by the cooperation partners are free of charge.

Six grants are available for residencies of six to eight weeks, each of them worth €1500. Four of these grants will be supplied from March until December by the Saxonian Culture Foundation in their grant holder residence at Dresden–Hellerau, with an additional provision of €250 for catering. Two other grants for a residency in the period 17 May – 16 October 2016 will be  supplied at the Gut Siggen seminar centre of the Alfred Töpfer Foundation with free full catering.
