Residencies for literary translators of German literature (Deadline for application: 28 February 2019)

The Goethe-Institut’s European Translators’ Residency Programme, in cooperation with the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S. and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony are offering a work grant in Germany to literary translators from abroad.

The purpose of the stay is to devote oneself to a current project in the area of German-language fiction in a quiet, concentrated atmosphere.

The TOLEDOProgramme and Literarisches Colloquium Berlin (LCB (https://www NULL.lcb NULL.de/home/)) invite translators of contemporary Germanlanguage poetry to a six-day meeting, Junivers, that will be organised from 11 – 17 June 2019 at Berlin’s Wannsee.

JUNIVERS is a new international forum that focuses on poetryspecific translation questions.

Fifteen poetry translators from all over the world will have the opportunity to exchange ideas about their poetic universes and explore possibilities for future networking.

EACEA publishes selection results of the support to literary translation projects 2018

The main objectives of the support for literary translation projects, granted by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Union, were to support cultural and linguistic diversity; to strengthen the transnational circulation and diversity of high quality literary works in the long term; to improve access to these literary works in the EU and beyond as all neighbourhood countries have been included, and to reach new audiences for European translated literature.

Applications open for ‘Warwick Translates’ (6-10 July 2019)

‘Warwick Translates’ is the first literary translation summer school to be held at the University of Warwick (UK). It offers the opportunity to translate texts across the literary genres into English, working with leading professional translators. Groups will be limited to a maximum of 20 students to allow for individual attention, and places will be allocated on a strictly ‘first-come-first-served’ basis.

New residency programme for authors and translators from Germany, France and Poland (Deadline: 15 March 2019)

A new German-French-Polish residency programmme, ‘Tandem Residenz’, invites authors and translators from Germany, France and Poland to apply for a joint residency in the castle of Genshagen, close to Berlin.

Three ‘tandems’ from the countries of the Weimar Triangle, consisting of one author and one translator each, will be invited to the castle for a ten-day stay (1-10 August 2019) and work on a translation project.
