Call for applications: Workshop for translators of German children’s and young people’s literature (4-9 September 2016, Hamburg)

From 4 to 9 September 2016 the Robert Bosch Foundation and Arbeitskreis für Jugendliteratur e.V. (Working Group for Youth Literature e.V) will host the seventh annual workshop on the translation of German literature for children and young people entitled ‘Kein Kinderspiel!’

The five-day workshop offers 15 translators the opportunity to tackle specific problems of the genre and discuss current trends.

The German Initiative Urheberrecht (‘Copyright Initiative’) – a joint undertaking that so far 35 associations in the creative field have signed up to – is pleased to announce the success of its latest initiative: a petition to campaign for reforms to copyright contract law,  and for stronger legal instruments to more fairly balance the relationship between authors, performing artists, publishers, distributors etc.

EsAsi prize for young translators awarded to Sara Marina Virk (Slovenia)

The fourth biennial EsAsi award (http://es NULL.espanacultura NULL.si/dogodki/cuarta-edicion-del-premio-esasi-para-jovenes-traductores) for the best translation from Spanish into Slovene by a translator under the age of 30 goes to Sara Marina Virk, whose translation of Felisberto Hernandez’s short story ‘Mur’ (1948) was selected as the best of the 38 entries.

The prize of €1000 was presented by the Spanish ambassador to Slovenia, His Excellency José Luis de la Peña Vela, on 24 February 2016 at a ceremony in the Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana.
