This year CEATL’s competition has been an international picture contest called “The Face of Translation”. CEATL invited photo amateurs to create sparky and clever photographs reflecting the existence and importance of literary translations and literary translators, their challenges, and their role in literature. Any topic could be used, as long as it was in some way related to literary translation. The prize – a 200 Euro voucher for dinner and books — will be awarded on International Translation Day, 30th September 2016. Foreign translators and writers are welcome at the Writers’ House Guest Rooms at Drottninggatan 88C in Stockholm to work, visit publishers or libraries, or simply spend a few days in the capital going to theatres and museums. Many Swedish writers and translators stay here as well, but guests from abroad have priority.
The Writers’ House provides four single rooms in the very centre of Stockholm (a double room can be arranged upon special request). The rooms are furnished with a standard bed, a small desk and an office chair. Guests share a bathroom with shower and WC, as well a separate WC. In January 2018 the Vertalersvakschool Amsterdam (Amsterdam Academy for literary translation) will open an academy in Antwerp in cooperation with Vlaams Fonds voor de Letteren (Flemish Literary Fund).
