Italian associations launch ‘Table of Translators’

On 20 January 2017 a new initiative called TableT – The Table of Translators was launched in Milan, at Laboratorio Formentini (http://www NULL.laboratorioformentini NULL.it/), by translators’ associations AITI (http://www NULL.aiti NULL.org/) and STradE (http://www NULL.traduttoristrade NULL.it/). The tables, open to all translators, cover three different areas – from all languages into Italian, from a specific language into and out of Italian and tables with different themes.

On 1 January 2017 nine European organisations (British Centre for Literary Translation (BCLT (http://www NULL.bclt NULL.org NULL.uk/)), European Council of Literary Translators’ Associations (CEATL), Deutscher Übersetzerfonds (http://www NULL.uebersetzerfonds NULL.de/), Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE (https://www NULL.elte NULL.hu/en/)),  Expertisecentrum Literair Vertalen (ELV (http://literairvertalen NULL.org/)), Fondazione Universitaria San Pellegrino (FUSP (http://www NULL.fusp NULL.it/en)), University of Leuven (http://www NULL.kuleuven NULL.be/english/), Nederlandse Taalunie (http://over NULL.taalunie NULL.org/dutch-language-union), Utrecht University (https://www NULL.uu NULL.nl/en)) officially launched the PETRA-E Network for the Education and Training of Literary Translators.

Edwin Morgan Translation Fellowships (Edinburgh; deadline: 27 March 2017)

To celebrate the life and work of the translator, poet and academic, Edwin Morgan, Creative  Scotland is funding two free places on the six week Text and Context course at the Scottish Universities’ International Summer School to two professional translators with an interest in twentieth-century and contemporary Scottish writing. This fellowship will foster collaboration between translators with the aim of promoting Scottish Literature, in particular, to an international audience.

Basque translation workshop resulted in two digital publications

From 20 to 22 June 2016, the Basque translators’ association EIZIE (http://www NULL.eizie NULL.eus/) organised the ‘Translating Exile’ workshop in Donostia/San Sebastian. Six translators participated in the workshop, which was part of the New Translators’ (http://www NULL.eizie NULL.eus/en/Jarduerak/itzultzaile_berriak)  programme (for a European audience). Their work has led to two digital publications, produced by EIZIE.
